The month of May

May is the fifth month of the year in the Gregorian calendar and its predecessor, the Julian calendar. It is named after the Greek goddess, Maia who is also identified with the Roman goddess of fertility. It was originally the third month of the year in the Roman calendar and consisted of 31 days.

This low growing perennial plant has small fragrant bell-shaped flowers and two large oblong lanceolate leaves and bloom in white. Lily of the Valley symbolizes sweetness and humility and “You’ve Made My Life Complete” is the hidden message connected to the flower.

The birthstone of May carries the rich green color of Spring and radiates a beautiful vivid tone. There are considered to be a symbol of rebirth and love. Emeralds are the rarest gemstones and are typically mined in Colombia, Brazil, Afghanistan and Zambia.
